Extract from The Bichon Bug - 1996 'We had always assumed that we were reasonably sensible people - until we bought a Bichon puppy. She was eight weeks old, the size of a small kitten and had a finely fluffy white coat that gave her the apparent fragility of a flower. It is a strange mental attitude that strikes when you first hold your very own Bichon in your hands. It's early effects are mild - a strong sense of protectiveness, an overwhelming desire to waste time tickling the puppy and getting down on all fours to play with it when you know you have a train to catch. This obviously intelligent little Bichon would be a simple enough matter to handle.' This book is a none too serious account of our efforts - and how eventually we were suitably brought to heel, by this delightful, diminutive dictator. Updated with additional photos in 2001

Author Joan Briggs has previously written film scripts, a western novel, a history of America for schools, TV critiques, regular conservation and countryside articles, and now a series of books about her Bichon Frisé dogs.
These books are not the usual *How to look after a Bichon* manuals - they are *How to survive being owned by Bichons* - whilst still appearing reasonably normal to your neighbours and friends!
The main comments received are -
"Our Bichon does that as well - we thought there was something wrong!!"
and
"Every Bichon owner should read The Bichon Bug - it might give you a fighting chance to avoid being totally dominated"
and
"They will appeal to all owners of small dogs and people who appreciate gentle humour"
