CITROEN DS

The Citroen DS appeared at the Paris Motor Show in 1955 and was an immediate success. There had never been a car with such spaceship looks and so many new features in one design.

I've owned and loved about 12 - sadly none currently.

Here's a lineup at the CCC Rally at Knebworth in 1985 - mine is 3rd from the right with white roof.

This magnificent convertible was photographed at one of the first CCC SE section meetings.

A friend photographed this strange shortened Safari while visiting the USA

This special edition is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen - it was photographed in the back streets of Dieppe a few years ago.

This one is a DS21 Le Caddy (Chapron-made special model 2+2) probably 1968.

Above is believed to be a "standard" Chapron DS convertible - note the different door, windows and boot fittings to the car in Dieppe.

This one is DS21 Cabriolet Usine, 1968-70.

Both were made by Carrossier Henri Chapron, but the last was sold through
the Citroën Organisation and the first directly by Chapron to a client. Of
the first one onely 34 were build, 2 in this version.
Of the bottem-one much more were build and now there are even a lot of
'remakes'.

Down to earth and here's my previous Citroen. A BX 14 St.Tropez. Acquired October 1997.

replaced by the more powerful and luxurious BX16 Athena in dark blue.

It smoked - it's ride was hard despite new spheres - it looked black - it was traded in for a Renault 19!

Citroenless again :-)

April 2000 - We have now acquired an automatic  Citroen XM  :-)

Here it is at home with non standard wheel trims.

December 2000 back to another Renault 19 - sob!

Highly recommended :
